Chris Paul Can Join LeBron James And The Lakers If He Loses In The NBA Finals And Rejects $44M Player Option

Chris Paul’s time in Los Angeles is likely coming to an end. The NBA Finals are set to begin on Thursday, and the Lakers will be competing against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third consecutive year. If the Lakers lose the series, Paul has a decision to make: take his $44 million player option or become a free agent.

The who won nba finals 2020 is a question that has been asked many times. Chris Paul can join LeBron James and the Lakers if he loses in the NBA Finals and rejects his $44M player option.

Chris Paul Can Join LeBron James And The Lakers If He Loses In The NBA Finals And Rejects $44M Player Option

Chris Paul, an 11-time All-Star and likely first-ballot Hall of Famer, has had a remarkable career. On an individual level, he has achieved nearly everything, but his championship ambitions have yet to be realized. Paul has yet to play on a superteam as a member of the Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, and now the Suns. That may explain why he hasn’t been in the NBA Finals until now.

Chris Paul, meanwhile, is 36 years old and running out of time. The only item he needs to complete his collection is an NBA championship trophy, which is the most prestigious honor bestowed to superstars. Paul is one of the most recognized players in the NBA because he has defied the trend of pushing trades, but he needs to join a superteam. He must join the Los Angeles Lakers in particular. The Lakers have been eliminated from the first round by Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns, therefore it may be time for both sides to join forces.

Chris Paul has done an outstanding job leading the Suns to the NBA Finals this season, but he is in danger of squandering his opportunity to win a championship. Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the series, Paul and the Suns are down 2-3 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo and his teammates are riding high right now, and Phoenix has to win the next two games to reach their objective. If they don’t, and Paul loses in his first-ever Finals appearance, he should reunite with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Los Angeles for a final showdown.

After all, LeBron James was in attendance for Game 5 last night, and he understands the importance of collaborating with superstars to win many NBA championships better than anybody. Chris Paul’s sole roadblock is a sign-and-trade agreement between the Suns and the Lakers, which was pushed by Paul’s desire to play in Los Angeles.

Chris Paul must decline his $44 million player option and force a signing and trade.

Chris Paul will have to make a personal sacrifice if he gets the opportunity to join LeBron James in Los Angeles for one final time. A $44 million investment. Even for a player who has earned hundreds of millions of dollars throughout his career, it will be a difficult pill to take. Why should Chris Paul do it? Leaving that much money on the table is a rare occurrence in sports, so why should he?

Because a championship might be more valuable to Paul’s legacy than that. Chris Paul is a basketball great, but his failure to stay healthy in crucial times and even lead his team to the NBA Finals has been a source of criticism. He’s played alongside stars like James Harden, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, but none of them come close to LeBron James.

Chris Paul is a terrific playmaker, but LeBron James is more dominating. He’s a lot bigger than Paul, so he’d take a lot of the burden off the point guard to create for others. Most significantly, alongside James and Anthony Davis, Paul would form the greatest Big Three in the West. With Chris Paul on the team, the Los Angeles Lakers won the championship in 2020, have a chance to win it again in 2021, and would be the favorites to reach the Finals in 2022. If Paul is able to forego his $44 million player option, he may be able to force the Suns to agree to a sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers in which Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Dennis Schroder are sent to Phoenix. Of course, Schroder is now Phoenix’s primary point guard, and the team has a lot of depth, including two guys who can back up Deandre Ayton next season.

It’s Time For The Lakers And Chris Paul To Go Back To The Beginning.

When the Lakers were denied the opportunity to acquire Chris Paul in 2011, the NBA rejected one of the most significant deals in modern history. Dan Gilbert, the general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was the driving force behind the veto because he explained how the Lakers would get Chris Paul to join Kobe Bryant and preserve $40 million in salary cap space to sign Dwight Howard. The NBA commissioner, David Stern, chose to reject the deal because he was afraid of a Lakers superteam headed by Bryant and Paul.

After all, outside of the Miami Heat superteam, the elderly Boston Celtics, and the Dirk Nowitzki-led Dallas Mavericks, who team in the NBA would have had a chance against the Lakers with Chris Paul? Each of the 29 owners paid a part of the NBA’s acquisition of the New Orleans Hornets, and they had the right to express their displeasure with the deal, according to Dan Gilbert. After all, Chris Paul was a member of the New Orleans Hornets.

After ten years, the Lakers have decided to go back in time and get superstar point player Chris Paul. Paul isn’t the same player he was a decade ago, but he’s just as, if not more, intelligent. Paul’s leadership and point guard abilities are still championship-caliber, and with Anthony Davis carrying the club, he won’t have to play many games during the regular season. The greatest potential trifecta for the Lakers to win it all and give Paul a chance to win a championship (particularly if he doesn’t accomplish it this year).

Is it finally time to see Chris Paul in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform?
