After tearing his ACL in 2020, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is making his comeback at the right moment. His arrival gives the Browns offense a much-needed lift. Baker Mayfield must be overjoyed to have OBJ back, since he is the team’s most skilled weapon.
However, Beckham’s return does not guarantee that the Browns will dominate opponents. It may take a while.

Even though Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to return for the Browns’ Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears, the offense will not be fully functional.
Jarvis Landry was put on the injured reserve list by Cleveland after suffering an MCL injury in Week 2. He’ll be out for at least three games since he’s been placed on injured reserve.
Since his arrival in 2018, Landry has been a vital part of the Browns offense. In each of his three full seasons in Cleveland, the LSU product has topped the club in targets, catches, and receiving yards.
Landry’s absence is significant for this offense, but he will return this season. Baker Mayfield has developed a connection with the five-time Pro Bowler, and his output will be tough to match.
Landry’s injury has created a vacuum that can’t be ignored. OBJ’s return to play could not have come at a better time.

The NFL world was shocked when Cleveland made the deal for Odell Beckham Jr. before the 2019 season. It was difficult to believe that the New York Giants would give up on a generational talent like OBJ so quickly.
The Browns, on the other hand, wanted to convert one team’s garbage into their gold. During his time with the Giants, Beckham Jr. established himself as one of the league’s most talented receivers.
In five seasons with the Giants, the former LSU Tiger had 390 catches for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns. Those are incredible statistics, particularly given he was injured for the most of the 2017 season.
In his debut season with the Browns, OBJ had a strong showing. He threw for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns on 74 receptions. However, both his receiving and touchdown totals decreased.
Baker Mayfield was approaching his second season in the NFL, and he wanted to better his game. Landry, OBJ’s college teammate, had previously built chemistry with him, which is why he was given a few extra targets.
Mayfield had his greatest statistical season in 2020, and he seemed to make the progress the Browns had hoped for. However, Beckham Jr.’s season was cut short due to an ACL injury.
For nine regular-season games and the playoffs, the Browns offense was forced to play without its best receiver. Mayfield’s performance, on the other hand, was unaffected. It’s uncertain if the three-time Pro Bowl wideout will be a good fit in Cleveland, but if he remains healthy for the remainder of the season, the answer will become clearer.
Odell Beckham Jr.’s game-breaking talent is badly needed by the Browns.
Odell Beckham Jr. sometimes makes catching the football seem easy. He’s got it when it comes to sheer, unadulterated skill. The only issue now is whether he can put it all together when he returns to the Browns’ lineup.
Cleveland has Super Bowl ambitions, or so the media has said. They’ll need to be firing on all cylinders to attain such heights.
Early in the 2021 season, the Browns’ super-talented defense hasn’t lived up to the expectations. The offensive has a well-balanced assault and is presently ranked in the top ten in total offense.
The most gifted running back duo in the NFL is Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Browns offense’s rushing assault is its obvious strength. They will, though, need huge plays in the passing game if they hope to compete for a Super Bowl.
Beckham Jr. is poised to make a huge play. He has all of the physical attributes that make him a great wide receiver. But how will he appear now that he’s recovered from his injury?
ESPN’s Jake Trotter stated, “The speed, cuts, and explosiveness are as crisp as ever.” Individual exercises and training camp, on the other hand, are very different from in-game activity. The assessment seems positive, but we must first see it.
The Browns will be dangerous if OBJ can rediscover his form and provide returns comparable to his greatest seasons in New York. If not, the Browns may be nothing more than a charade.
