Russell Westbrook has been traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the LA Lakers. The move comes as a shock to many, but not all. In fact, some people were expecting it for quite some time now.
Russell Westbrook has broken his silence on the Lakers trade with an Instagram post. Read more in detail here: nba rumors: lakers.

Russell Westbrook has joined the Los Angeles Lakers and has taken to social media to express his joy. Westbrook began by thanking Wizards fans for their support throughout the previous season.
“Thank you very much, DC!” From the beginning, you embraced my family and myself with open arms,” Westbrook said on Instagram. “From the front office to the training staff, coaches, teammates, and fans. I’m thankful you took a chance on me and have been there for me every step of the way. I consider myself fortunate to have been a member of such a forward-thinking company. It didn’t take long for me to feel at home in DC, and I’ll be eternally thankful for the opportunity to work for the organization. Thank you very much! #thedistrict”
Westbrook’s Instagram Stories were more Lakers-focused, as he shared a visual of himself in his new purple and gold jersey with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The new Lakers guard also retweeted a remark from his brother Ray Westbrook, who said the move had made Los Angeles “light.”
“The city has been illuminated!!!! Ray Westbrook said, “This is insane.”
Westbrook’s game has always been a favorite of LeBron’s.
Throughout his career, James has been a strong booster of Westbrook. In April, the Lakers star praised his current teammate on Instagram.
“We know you despise and don’t appreciate what we do, but we simply laugh it off!” James made a comment on Instagram. “However, there is one thing you will do: RESPECT IT/US #GoodkidsMadCity #HiHaters”
Months later, it seems James was sowing the seeds for the L.A. native to return home. Westbrook replied to James’ touching Instagram post in the comments section.
Westbrook said at the moment, “Straight like that brodie!!!”
Westbrook has been eyeing a trade to the Lakers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. With even tighter salary budget restrictions, Los Angeles general manager Rob Pelinka will have his hands full filling out the Lakers roster.
On Twitter, Wojnarowski stated, “This is a deal Washington wants to make with Bradley Beal in mind, providing some salary cap flexibility for the future to add quality around him.” “Returning to his origins in Los Angeles has piqued Westbrook’s interest.”
Westbrook’s trade to the Lakers is a “Dream Come True,” according to Woj.
After weeks of speculation, news of the Lakers and Wizards agreeing to a deal surfaced only hours before the NBA draft. Westbrook’s decision, according to Wojnarowski, is a “dream come true.”
On SportsCenter, Wojnarowski stated, “For a Southern California kid, this is a dream come true to go back and play for the Lakers and now team up with Anthony Davis and LeBron James.” “And this is a huge three in Los Angeles that we may not have seen coming.”
With James, Davis, and Westbrook, the Lakers have a new big three. Magic Johnson, a Lakers icon, went to Twitter to express his thoughts on the blockbuster deal.
Johnson tweeted, “Russell Westbrook is the most electrifying player in the NBA today, and the STAPLES Center will be on fire next season!!”
The Lakers are Westbrook’s fourth club in the past four seasons, and both sides are aiming for a lengthier stay this time. Last season, Westbrook averaged 22.2 points, 11.7 assists, and 11.5 rebounds for the Wizards. In three of his past four seasons, the superstar has averaged a triple-double.
