A college life can be tough for most students, particularly for those living in a dorm. Being away from home may take a toll on their health and studies. That being said, some tech gadgets can help you, like they helped me ace my college and dorm life. Do you want to know more about them? Then, read on:
Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Portable Printer
Smart Coffee Maker
Portable Neck Fan
- Noise-Cancelling Headphones:
My dormmate was crazy about metal music and made the whole dorm building listen to it on woofers. Not only it was frustrating, but I also couldn’t focus on my studies. One day, while I was surfing on the internet, I saw an ad for noise-canceling headphones.
As I was already frustrated enough, I ordered those for myself. Fortunately, those noise-canceling headphones were as good as they were advertised.
All I needed was to cover my ears with them, play Lo-Fi music, grab my notes and pen, and start studying. To say I was in a world of my own wouldn’t be wrong as I couldn’t hear a thing when I put them on. So yes, if you have chatty dormmates or if you’re easily distracted by outside noises, grab a noise-canceling headphone right now.
- Portable Printer:
One day, my friend brought a portable printer to class. While the whole class read from slides, he took out notes from his portable printer. I didn’t like to study till I had no pen in my hand and notes to write on. So, I bought one for myself and the only regret I had after buying it was that I didn’t consider it earlier.
The portable printer was compact, and I could easily carry it in my backpack. My portable printer had replaceable ink cartridges that I changed over time. However, I have seen some portable printers that use thermal paper and need to be replaced with time. Moreover, I could use the portable printer via Bluetooth connectivity; I preferred using it on Mediacom Internet simply because it was always connected to one of the millions of free hotspot zones Mediacom provided.
- Smart Coffee Maker:
Back home, my mornings didn’t start without a cup of coffee. So, it was an arduous task to wake up for early-morning classes in the college. I knew I wouldn’t find time to make a coffee before class, so I bought a smart coffee maker.
As a result, I wasn’t still the first one to be present in class, but this gadget helped me not be the last. Using a smart coffee maker was a piece of cake. All that needed to be done was to set its time, fill the coffee machine with coffee, milk, water, and sugar (if you like!), and place a cup under its nozzle. Then, as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, this coffee maker welcomes you with a cup of coffee the way you want it.
- Portable Neck Fan:
Hailing from Maine, Georgia’s heat was an uninvited problem for me. Well, not just for me, but for many out-of-state students who were not used to living in such scorching heat. One of my dormmates, Alex, was from North Dakota, and he was like a fish out of the water when he was outside.
Getting a portable neck fan was his idea. And I couldn’t be more thankful to him for coming up with such a brilliant idea that made our college life easier. A portable neck fan is like a band, with a lot of vents that burst cool air. There are no fan blades so it is secure to wear around your neck. Plus, it’s a chargeable device with three different speed modes – slow, medium, and fast. On top of that, it didn’t make any sound.
So, whenever we felt a bit of heat in college, traveling, or anywhere, a portable neck fan was our go-to gadget.
Bonus Suggestions: To conclude, I have a parting gift for you:
- Electric Kettle: A student can find multiple applications in an electric kettle. For instance, besides boiling water and making tea or coffee, an electric kettle can be used to make instant noodles. Not just this, but you can also hit the internet to find more instant food hacks that can be prepared in an electric kettle.
- Air Purifier: After a long day at college, a sniff of fresh air is what you may need. And for that reason, an air purifier becomes a must for every college student.
- Microwave Rice Cooker: A rice cooker is what you need when you’re tired of frozen food or eating outside. Students can easily use a rice cooker. On top of that, this gadget will satisfy your tastebuds now and then and will keep you healthy.
